Default Has anyone done a gas door cable replacement?

When I bought my RX300 the nipple on the gas door cable was broke (also the spring that pops the gas door open).
I bought the door spring and the gas door cable off eBay. Spring was inexpensive ($5) and I think I paid about $30 for the cable.
Was wondering if anyone has replaced the cable before.
Any info would be helpful to save me time and avoid making dumb mistakes.

didn't find much info ..but this video might help with some insight. The hardest part seems to be fishing the new cable in.

Thanks for the video but the RX300 gas door cable & spill guard is completely different than the video.

oh well, worth a shot, i figured Toyota wouldn't stray too far from the basic design from model to model.

With no help from anyone, guess I'll just dive into it, take photos as I go and do a DIY. That might help others from some of the mistakes I'm sure I'm going to make lol.

Only suggestion I would make is to visually follow the whole length of the cable.

Try to do the minimum that solves the problem (change the inside cable if that is frayed instead of changing the sheathing if possible.)

If adjustment is all that will fix it, then dont bother replacing the cable.

Good luck.

Have to replace the whole cable. The plastic button on the end that holds the door closed is broke off. It was broke when I bought the car. Also the spring was broke. Have both. Just want the nice car to be as it should be.
