Side-Gapping Spark Plugs For RX300 To Increase HP & MPG
Hi Guys,
I was reading up on the Internet on which brand of spark plug is better: Denso or NGK? Upon reading one forum site, I stumbled across another link/article of side-gapping spark plugs. Apparently, it's been a trade secret in the racing community. According to the article, side-gapping your plugs significantly increases HP & MPG and the explanation given seems logical. I've never heard of it until reading this article and wanted to ask all of you the following:
1.) Have any of you done this?
2.) If so, how did your RX300 idle (AWD or FWD) shortly after?
3.) What were the short term results as far as MPG? Did you feel any significant difference in power response in your RX?
4.) What were the long term effects (i.e. - did you experience any form of damage to your engine by side-gapping your plugs, were the plugs themselves damaged, did your car idle "funky," etc.)?
The following is the link to the article I referenced above and the procedure is easy:

As always, I look forward to your input.
UPDATE: I found a YT video on how to do this:

Forget this video, this is shadetree bro-tech. I wouldn't even do this for my lawnmower.
Companies spend millions of dollars on research to engineer the best spark plugs they can for the market.
Both Denso and NGK make reputable plugs. Just get the recommended heat range.

Pole Position
stick with OE denso or NGK iridium and you will have the best plug available on the market...Spark is optimal because of the very pointed electrode on the iridium plugs....
