Whistle noise at 45-55 mph?

Whistle noise at 45-55 mph?
I have a 2001 Lexus RX 300 w/ 127K miles. Had to have transmission rebuilt and another enform put in a few years ago. I noticed that when it's cold outside (I live in Wisconsin) and I think this only happens in the winter, I noticed I get a whistling noise that starts at 45 and gradually increases until I hit 55 and then it stops at 55. It seems to be coming from the engine bay. I am aware I near a new rear main seal and a valve cover gasket. No other issues. Anyone else experiencing this?

I have the same exact thing with my 1999 RX300. Only in winter, happens between 20-25 mph, 40-45 mph and 50-55 mph. Highly dependent on outside temperature. Totally tied to vehicle speed, not engine rotation. Is not affected by by stepping on brake, turning, or shifting into another gear or neutral or turning overdrive on or off. Did you ever find out what it is? If so, please share!

If you have a rear deflector and luggage rack (only for looks 
) there is an old issue with the wind noise in '99 RXs. The deflector was redesigned in later years. Please search.
There was TSB issued and it was a horrible fix. My solution is turn up the stereo.

I have just read online about this issue and seems like other people have this issue also and it is indeed from the roof racks. I have roof racks and i think that's the issue. I guess I won't bother to fix this issue.

Look at the situation this way.
If the wind noise is the only problem, count your blessings.
You may like to look into leaks in the door rubber seals, that are allowing the noise to penetrate. You do this by adding a thin cloth (old vest) between the door and the frame.

Out of curiosity, I would be tempted to remove the two roof racks from the tracks (mark their current location) and see if the noise disappears. If it does, experiment with moving them forward and backward in an attempt to eliminate the noise. As Salim says, it's a minor problem to have, but maybe this could help. I've heard it's been a problem for some RX's.
