the whole reason for not using the amperage readings is because you have to interrupt the circuit to take your measurements. And i want the system to be just like it is normally. taking voltage measurements does not disturb the system and the readings are easy to convert and compare using the chart. but whatever works for people is fine.

My mistake....I did mean voltage meter (not voltage regulator). I've been doing other electrical work and had regulators on my mind.

So the next to last reading on my voltage meter reads down to the thousandth (0.001) and then the very last setting seems to read down to the ten-thousandth (0.0001).

Am I correct that when the system is totally in sleep mode I should get a reading of "0" all the way down to the ten-thousandth?

Do I need to go through any special steps with the locks (I keep hearing about double lock)?
Does the car alarm system need to be on?

Bob has a good handle on it, but as a 3rd person I would say dont get carried away on getting close match to the readings Bob has.

The fuse with contacts are supposed to be "0 ohm" in theory and in real life will be small ohms (R). Will be 0.01 ohm or 0.005 ohms or 0.05 ohms .. who knows [you will get 5 times different voltage if the R varies from 0.01 to 0.05 ohms). Will your fuse match Bob's etc etc. When you add variance in Battery voltage and accuracy of the meters involved, I would not fuss about numbers being off a fair bit.

Bob I understand why you opted to measure voltage, but I hope I conveyed the importance of measuring current or measure the voltage with accurate/reference resistance. Measuring current after reaching quiet state would have been too cumbersome.
