Default New owner, a couple of questions

Hey everyone!

Just picked up a 2003 this afternoon and have a couple of questions. Vehicle did not come with keyless remotes, just two regular keys. Am I correct to assume the vehicle has a keyless entry system and I just need keys? Secondly, the ABS, Traction Control Off and VSC lights are all on. What type of tester would I need to check them out?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Club Lexus and congratulations on your purchase.

Please read up the FAQ and RX300 Mega thread Having problems, start here stickies.

Does your CEL light up when you turn the key from Acc to run?

Welcome to the club!

Yes, the RX came with remotes built into the key itself.

Welcome to Club Lexus!

Did the VSC, ABS, TRAC lights come on after you purchased it?

You need an OBD-II scan tool to retrieve the codes.

Your first question was answered but regarding your second question, you'll need to get the exact codes using an OBDII scanner. Most auto part stores do that for free. The other thing you'll learn is the warning lights don't always correspond to the real root cause. For example you could leave the gas cap loose after a refuel and get the same warning lights (may be except for the ABS light) you got now...Read the codes and report back.

Yes, I have an OBDII scan tool. I scanned for codes and found none. FYI, the CEL light is not on.

Suggestions?

Sorry, I got a couple of things mixed up in my response. Ignore my comment about the code.

Lexus has another diagnostic port for the brake/abs system. Some scanners claim that they can read the ABS code too.

Hypervish posted the test procedure in a response to my question. I will paste the line once I find it.

So the suggestions are:

1. Go to Lexus and have the ABS codes read.
2. Upgrade to a better scanner ... not proven .. but the claims are there.
3. Dig for Hyper's note.

If you would allow me to guess ,,, I would say problem is related to wheel rotation sensor.
