Unhappy Have to say goodbye...

Well I'm sad to say that I have to say good-bye to my 2000 RX300 AWD. After 382,000 miles the transmission finally quit. (yes, the original tranny) I'm sad to see it go, but it's time. It's not like the trany owed me anything....

That's a good number of miles, sorry to see the RX go.

Bittersweet! I hope to reach 400k miles one day, all on original drivetrain as well. You did well! I wish you luck on your next ride!

That's a whole lotta miles. I would assume that was 75-80% highway driving. I had a 2002 Bonneville that was at 292,000 when I got rear ended last year. It spent most of it's life as a saleman's car driving on the freeway before I bought it.

"Can you afford not to drive a Lexus?" Must give it to Lexus, they had a point with that hype.

wow, that RX served you well! Unless you are just tired of it, $2000-2500 is the current rate of a good used transmission. It can be a cheap dependable driver once again!

Well, considering the only reason I got the Lexus in the first place was because my mother gave it to me, she got the rx350, I sadly can not afford to buy another lexus.

A deal on a very clean, well maintained '98 Acura 3.5RL fell into my lap, so that's what I'll be driving.

I was the third owner, and according to all the records I have the transmission was serviced on a fairly regular basis.

Believe me, I tried to figure a way to keep it. I work for Napa Auto Parts, so I have a lot of contacts. I even found someone to rebuild my trans for $1200, but it was to the point of needing a bunch of work besides the trany, and I was tired of it nickle and diming me to death.

There comes a time to put a horse in a pasture or a glue factory .

Hotrodgirl, if you dont mind sharing the repair history it would be educational for the rest. You dont have to go back too long back in history.

Why not try financing the tranny work? It would allow you to keep it with a brand new transmission and you can make affordable payments.

Take it to a Lexus dealership and see if they give you a new one when they see the mileage. At one tome Volvo would give a new car if you could get 1,000,000 miles on your car.
