Default gas mileage - depends full or empty ? is it true ?

hi guys.
i have a felling that my rx spend more gas if the tank is empty.
is it true ? any comments ?

if anything it should spend less because a gallon of gas weighs in 6 lbs. as such an empty tank is carrying about 120 lbs less than a car with a full tank. what you are probably seeing is the fuel sender moving quickly showing the depleting gas tank as you get closer to the bottom.

My RX doesn't use any gas when the tank's empty, because there's no gas in it....

i thought that it could be the reduced pressure inside the tank

My gauge goes down fast at the full end and slower at the empty end. It is a mystery to me why Lexus can't make a gas gauge that is accurate.

All car manufactures do this.

It's so people don't stall out because they ran out of gas. They build in a safety margin.
