Default Factory woofer replacement

The woofer in my RX is blown and I'm looking for a replacement. It's 4" component speaker with dual 2-ohm coils. About 2.25" deep.

I understand the option of fitting an aftermarket woofer but would like to replace this irrespective of additional bass.

Thanks!

Wow, I had no idea that thing was a 4 inch driver. I figured it was 5 or 6 inches at least.. Well, I guess you could find something here;

What was the location of this speaker? Front door, rear door? It's not the subwoofer, is it (they are usually the dual voice coil components)?

It is the sub--it's fitted inside a plastic enclosure under the passenger seat.

I've determined that it's not worth replacing; rather, it makes more sense to install an aftermarket amp and subwoofer in the trunk (or maybe a flat panel-style sub under the passenger seat), and disconnect this one altogether.

Now you will discover how much specialized Lexus audio system is.

Does anyone replace this 4" subwoofer located under the passenger seat?

Mine never did much, It made sound, but I would have to put my ear nearby to hear it, rather than be obvious like a subwoofer should be when the sound is up.

I recently took it out, - and when I inspect the box, there is a lot of molded plastic, screws, and engineering that went into producing this subwoofer. It seems like it a bad design, that never did much for the effort involved. Is there a way to get it work? The discussion seems to mostly be, that its not worth bothering with.

I am not an audiophile, but instead of ear, feel the sound with hand for a sub. It is all in the enclosure porting/ducting/or_lack_thereof.

To answer your question .. I have not removed front passenger seat. My knowledge is limited to the impact of the sub under the seat ,,,,, you can't raise/lower passenger seat.

Just wondering; how hard was it to take out if it was "buried" under the right front passenger seat? I only want to know in case i ever need to access mine for some reason. also; if one decides to take the old one out; and replace it can you put a bigger aftermarket sub in the same mounting location?

Default It took just a few minutes to remove.

Its held in by four bolts, two on readily accessible tabs, front and back

I had to unbolt the seats as well, which are also held in by four bolts, two up front and two behind. - have to remove the plastic trim from the seat rails to get to them.

There doesn't appear to be enough space to put a different style woofer under the seat. Reading the forum, it seems like the location of choice is in the rear location for the spare tire. It also requires a power amp. I don't want to go that far.

As a reference, the factory sub-woofer is 2 Ohms.
