Default AC Not turning on or Trip info not displaying

I am hoping that this is just a fuse.

I went to lunch, started my car and the AC will not turn on and the gas mileage info is not displaying by the clock.

Anyone know whats up?

If on the next start things do not go back to normal, it may be worthwhile to disconnect the battery for about 20 mins ,,, you will loose your settings

+1.

I've had this happen to me before and all I did was turn the car off and back on. It's only done it maybe twice in 7 years.

Default That worked

That did the trick. I unhooked the battery last night for about 20 min. Plugged back in all good. However, this morning, other issues were going on. Lights on dash, windows or door locks not working. I disconnected the battery for about 30 seconds, plugged back in, all good.

I drove to work with no issues, I did make one stop, turned off my car, returned, still good.

Should I be worried that the main computer, or whatever it is called is going bad?

ECU is pretty robust beast and it should be the last suspect. I would start with the battery itself and terminals and grounding.

The battery can be tested at any auto store.

Can you share some vehicle history? Was anything done to it shortly before these strange observations?

I changed the valve cover gaskets 3 weeks ago. I haven't had any issues until now. The battery was replaced about a year ago. It has a 3 year replacement so I will have that checked.

The cables look ok, there was a little corrosion on the positive side. As far as other work, I replaced the o2 sensors and the spark plugs last year.

Check for any loose grounds, that sounds suspect because you had the valve cover gaskets changed recently.
