Door Speakers and Dash Tweeters
I have searched and searched on the forum and cannot find anything on changing the speakers on a 2000 RX300.
Do you have to remove the door panels or does the round speaker cover come off separately?
How do you get to the dash tweeters? Do you have to remove the whole dash?
Thanks!

just ordered the same setup from Crutchfield 2 days ago, cost about $140 shipped.
6032cf for the rears, 6032si for the fronts, and a bit of hardware from Home Depot Racing. Crutchfield provides adapters/harnesses for free.
Doesn't make sense to spend more money (imo), though a sub/amp may also be good if you're willing to sacrifice trunk space.

Going to tackle the sub next I think, quality is much improved w/ infinitys all around but bass is lacking.

Which tweeters did you use? I think maybe it makes more sense to replace the front speakers w/ something other than the 6032si (something without a built-in tweeter), and replace the oem tweeters separately.

No, I did not get new tweeters. The tweeters on this 2000 RX300 are ok and don't sound like they're baked yet. If interested, I do have a decent windshield sun shade in there to keep the UV off the dash/interior when it's sunbathing. See:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1999-03-LEXUS-RX300-Windshield-Sun-Shade-CUSTOM-FIT-/260360978426?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3ALexus%7CModel%3ARX300&hash=item3c9eb93ffa&vxp=mtror search eBay for:
1999-03 LEXUS RX300 Windshield Sun Shade.
To keep the shade up, I have some 2" velcro strips on both sides near the top of the windshield. I bought the kind of velcro that has no adhesive already on it (like the velcro you'd use for sewing). Then I used Scotch exterior grade double sided tape (from Home Depot) to adhere the velcro fuzzy to the windshield and the the velcro scratchy to the sunshade. In other words, cut the tape to match the velcro (or cut both at the same time). You don't see the velcro on the windshield inside the car, because it's up in the darkened "sun visor" glass area. Btw, normal double sided tape won't take the heat, you need the Scotch stuff :
Thanks for the inquiry :-)

Maybe I misunderstood. The new speakers have tweeters built in. Here's the cut sheet:
http://infinitysystems.com/product-d...ref6032si.html
Were you talking about these built into the Infinity speakers, or the OEM tweeters up on the dash?
With that many tweeters up front, it's gonna sound like a bird cage. Ha!

I put in 6.5 jl audio coaxial speakers in the front and back doors... Just in time.. lol
I would like to address the tweeters in the dash.. Can I just replace them with out having to run wires? I can only assume they are shot compared to the door speakers.

Hi mizak82,
Where'd you buy the speaker brackets? They look like the "142SAT6 Speaker Mounting Brackets" I had in my "kit" from Crutchfield.
Do you need those brackets for the rear speakers too?
Are those JL speakers a "thin" style? They seem to fit nicely in there.
Thanks . . .

The back doors were done with the correct bracket with the 6s... but the front, instead of returning and waiting.. I just got that bracket, kept the bigger speaker and it worked out great..
I didnt notice anything about a thin basket.. they cleared the window.. thank god..
