Smile Just bought my first RX!

I'm pretty excited about this. I picked up this beautiful '02 RX Coach AWD with 97k miles for $8,800 just last week and couldn't be happier with it. Previously I owned a '92 ES then a '95 ES, so this is quite the step up for myself. Right now I have a few things I want to do to her:

1) Install USB/ Aux/ Bluetooth module for playback of and charging my iPhone. I have also seen the How-to thread on splicing the CD wiring to make an aux input which I'm open to, what are peoples' thoughts/ experience with this?

2) Speakers. I know I eventually want to replace all four 6.5's in the doors, and figure out what the best route is for the joke of a sub under the passenger seat (which I believe is already blown). I have already thrown the addition of a stereo head unit out the window because I don't want to lose my screen/nav controls.

3) Tail light tint: What are peoples' thoughts on this? I've found a good custom RX vinyl tint on ebay for $20 and the picture they provided looks pretty damn good...is there any reason I shouldn't do this?

4) Rims: has anyone powder coated their RX rims black? I would love to see pictures.

Anyways, here she is

Congratulations on the purchase!

Look's pretty clean aside from the seats! Give leatherique a shot, it can really clean those suckers up!

Very nice, congratulations. Is that grill unique to the Coach edition?

It is. They call it the honeycomb grill.

Congratulations on the purchase. On #4, there have been some people who have powdercoated the rims, I can't remember offhand the names, but one of the vehicles was black like mine.

Congrats! Looks really nice!

I just got my RX300 a couple months ago. I needed to work on my seats as well. I used Meguiars leather conditioner, and it pulled up a LOT of dirt. The creases are not nearly as noticeable. I stopped short of re-dying the leather and just let it be. Nothing is peeling up or delaminating, so I'll just leave it in "used" but "clean" condition. Good luck with yours!

If I just bought a RX300 used, first thing I would do is look at the various options on changing the tranny fluid. (Other fluids too, but transmission fluid would be #1 on my list). Many DIY's here on how to do this. As a basic DIY'er, I preferred to do the drain/fill. If you buy a case of fluid, you can get 3-4 (3 maybe for your AWD). With a ~3 week interval between drain/fills, to me, its the safest bet. Check he specs for your tranny fill, mine, as a FWD is exactly 3.7 qusrts. The AWD is more. Do not over fill.

Looks like a good specimen to me!
Just get those seats recovered by a reputable shop and you're good to go!
