Default Air conditioning trouble

Hi Guys,

First of all this forum has been VERY helpful to me. I have saved a lot of money and learned a lot about cars from all the DIYs. Thank you guys.

I have been having a strange issue. When I turn the a/c on my side blows out cold air as it should. However the passengers side vents blow out significantly warmer air. Not hot air, but not as cold as the driver side. When I put the vents on feet or defrost it is the same issue. Because of this the car isn't cooling down, the driver is comfortable but the passengers are not.

I did just change the cabin air filter, I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

I was on an extended drive today and I noticed that when moving on the highway continuously the air would come out cold. However when standing still at a light or in stop and go traffic the air is warmer. Again much warmer on the passenger side than the driver side but still warmer.

Again if this can help anyone shed some more light please let me know.

You need to get the refrigerant pressure (both high and low side) measured. This typically requires a visit to an auto A/C shop.

What you can do on your own is to check and clean out the radiator fins. Make sure your electric fan works.

If you search, you will find diagnostic mode for A/C system. Remember to ignore the ambient light test if you run the diagnostic in covered area.
