I have a 2002 RX 300 and the driver door won't lock when I push the remote or door lock button. It will unlock most of the time with the remote. I can hear the locking and unlocking sound inside the door, but the button doesn't move. Since I can hear the locking and unlocking inside the door, does the locking actuator have to be replaced or is it possible something has just come loose? My husband tried to take the door panel off, but stopped when he got to the wooden panel where the buttons are because it didn't pop up freely and he didn't want to break it. Can it be pryed up or is there a trick to getting it out? I appreciate any info and help anyone can give. Thanks

You need to replace the door lock actuator. You can either "piggyback" a motor onto it, open up the actuator & replace motor or replace the entire assembly. Do a search on here and you will find much more in depth information.

There is definitely a trick to getting the wood grain "switch panel" out. The referenced DIY should give proper instructions to do it. Gremlins welded it in but there IS a way to get it out without ruining it. Don't try simply prying harder or you will destroy it almost for certain. If the DIY doesn't explain clearly enough, come back and myself or someone else will do that for you.
