I ordered the touch-up paint from the original post - it matched great.

Regarding the "10 Foot Rule", yes, I've heard that used many times in the past.

Thanks much for sharing the paint color code.

A friend of mine said you use "the ten foot rule" with older vehicles, just giving it the once over from ten feet. Using that standard, it's a huge improvement.
The paint on the bumper (or the vehicle) does not fade evenly. The bottom portion does not get exposed to sun and thus does not fade as much. There is no sharp delineation ... till a new (even shade) of color is applied right next to it. This why, the whole panel is painted or blending is done. I would not recommend a second coat. Paint the whole bumper. Blending is an art and you will have to match the darkest to lightest. If your new paint is light, you will not be able to make it darker.

Default Paint code for 1999 RX300 Bumper (cladding)

The paint code for the bumper, also known as cladding around the lower half of the car for the silver color is "UCAB8". Silver metallic clearcoat. I found it on Paintscratch.com. I haven't ordered it yet but it looks like it is right.
