Default rx300 amp installation problem

Sorry if this is a repeat post but i am new to the forum and havnt been able to find what i need. I am trying to install an amp into my stock pioneer head unit and have not been able to get my output converter wired correctly.... so far i have tried tapping into the harness that plugs into the amp under the rear seat ( pos right, pos left, neg right, neg left into loc) with no success and tried the wires behind the head unit ( left+ and - to amp and right +- to amp ) with no sucess.. I must be missing something?!? where in the loop do I splice in the loc and to what wires if anyone knows?
any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Its been a long time since I looked at this but I think you need to tap the output side of the factory amp.
