Quick transmission question
Okay so tonight I went to change the fluid in the trans in the Rx.
I was going to disconnect the cooler lines and all that, but it got very late on me.
what i did was. drain pan, drain the "diff", drop the pan, replace strainer, clean magnets, replace gasket, reinstall pan, reinstall "diff" plug, added 4 qts of fluid and checked on dipstick.
My question is.
I keep hearing people say that the transmission pan and the "diff" are connected and the same fluid is cycled through it. Other people say the front "diff" takes 90wt gear oil. I just want to make sure what I did was okay and something bad isn't going to happen.
People for some reason are using the transfer case and front diff interchangeably on this site and it is rather confusing.
This car is only FWD, so there is no rear diff or "transfer case"
I just want to make sure that the "diff" got refilled when I added through the dipstick or if there actually was a fill plug for it. A lot of info I am finding on here and on the net contradicts itself.
Thanks! A quick response would be great.
Edit: oh and also after refilling everything it was making a buzzing noise before i started it up.. what would make it do that?

FWD:
Transmission and front differential are linked. They have a common fill point (dip-stick hole). There are two low spots and have drain plugs for both. One is on the pan and the other on the differential. Make sure you use Toyota Type IV or better. [Toyota Type IV is not Dexron IV]
AWD:
There is a rear diff an that take 90W oil.
Hope this helps.
