Scraping sound after rear pad & rotor change
Just replaced the rear pads and rotors. Now when I turn I hear a scraping sound from the left rear. I didn't bend anything during the work. Any ideas? TIA

Thanks guys, but everything was fine when the car was on jack stands. And, no sound when I am going straight. Only when I make a relatively sharp turn (at the least to the left, occasionally to the right) does the sound appear.

Rears making a sound on a turn ... does not add up.
Try jacking the rear and spin the wheel.
If you fiddled with the parking brake/drum, you may have to use a rubber mallet and go around whacking the drum gently as you spin it (helps the floating shoes center)

One of the pads is in back wards, metal side to the rotor make noise. Don't ask me how I know. Remove the offending rear wheel and check the pads out. Metal goes to the outside. Pad, ceramic or asbestos goes to the rotor side. Easy mistake when your in a hurry or tried (both).

To close out this thread, explanation appears to be that when I was trying to remove the old rotor by striking it from behind, I must have slightly bent the backing plate such that when the new rotor was installed it made slight contact with the backing plate, causing the scraping sound. (I can see evidence of it.) No good explanation for why it was intermittent, but I'm convinced that is the cause.

I had this happen to my vehicle in the front rotors, after someone changed my brakes after I brought my RX300. I had my toyota dealer fix the backing plate ( FOR FREE), and they explained it as the rotor would flex when driving, which is normal and the since the backing plate was bent when I turned it the rotor would scrape it cause the metal to metal noise only when turning. This was my front rotors, didn't know this could happen the the rear rotors as well.
