Put in KYB struts and OEM mounts a few weeks ago. Had to cut the rear sway bar links so those got replaced. In the front I was able to re-use the links. The ride is improved but the front still doesn’t feel as tight and isolated as expected over broken pavement. Maybe my expectation is too high? I’m thinking new front links might make the difference. Opinions?

I replaced my RX300 struts with KYB all around and KYB mounts, I replaced all the sway bar links, as well as the front lower ball joints(both sides) and both front tie rod ends. When I was finished my car rode like a new one. I even test drove a 2006 rx330 with 25k on it and my ride was a lot more of a luxury smooth ride than it was. I also like the sportiness of the KYB struts made those corners like a champ!!

JohnLX: How many miles when you rebuilt your suspension? Were the ball joints and tie rod ends noticeably worn?

I had just about 103k, mind you that 95k of that was in New York...salty winter roads and such. Tie rod end and ball joints were ok, as in the rubber was fine, the ball joints I could really fell the difference between the old and new. I did use Lexus parts for this, each ball joint was $50. I had tried MOOG ball joints....complete crap...and only $10 cheaper. Ball joints gave me back that smooth easy new car steering!

Front SB links replaced. Ride quality improved to where I think it should be. Once removed it was clear the old ball joints were loose compared to new. No rattle/play, buy very easy to swivel the ball joints by hand.
