Default 2001 Rx 300 vsc engages for no reason

My VSC engages when I start to move the car. Brought it to the dealer they said it was the rear axel. Paid $600.00 for the axel, had my mechanic put it in for $200.00 and problem still not solved. I pulled the breaker out from the fuse box and the vsc stopped engaging, but now the vsc light stays. Ever happened to anyone, and do you know the solution? Thanks

You could have a bad speed sensor, on any wheel. Did you get the codes for your problem?

No I didn't. I don't trust the dealership and longer, to many miss diagnosis and too much money

Did the dealer tell you that replacing the axle, will solve your problem? If so, I'd speak with the manager and get them to at least give you a refund for the labor, and they keep the money for the part.

Like mentioned above, try cleaning your speed sensor's. It's quite simple, a quick search will reveal what to do.

I`m 99.99999999% sure that is the problem. A dirty abs/speed sensor.

Yes they told me it was the axel. All they did was refund the diagnose charge. Can you tell me where the speed sensor is ? Thanks for the help guys , will let you know how I make out.

I had the same problem on my 2001. I cleaned the wheel sensor`s on the wheel hubs (front) problem solved. I would have cleaned the rear ones too but I couldnt get them out. Lucky for me it was one of the front sensor`s that was the problem.

Do i need to have mechanic do this--you seemed to have done yourself-=if so how do I get to the sesnors. I am pretty sure that is what it is but all the mechanics I ask want to charge $80-$100 to hook up to computer first---there are n o lights on, only the pic of the skidding car when it happens--thanks
