My 2001 RX300 has over 215K miles, i'm the second owner and bought it back in 2004 with 30K miles. I just replaced timing belt, tensioner, pulleys oil seals etc last April.
The crankshaft oil seal, cam shaft oil seal and timing belt were amazingly at good condition for being in service for almost 20 yrs and 200K miles!

I'm now replacing the rear valve cover gasket, rear spark plugs and ignition coil since I haven't changed it since i've owned it. The spark plugs too was amazingly in good condition. The valve cover is leaking that's why I wanted to replace it. And since it is BIG pain in the a$$ to access the rear coil packs, I decided to replace it with Denso even though i'm not experiencing any misfires.

I have a 2000 RX300 with 212K miles. Timing belt replaced twice. I've been using Mobil 1 High Mileage oil since 150K miles. I'm still getting between 19-20 MPG in South Florida driving.

Default High mileage Rx owner

[QUOTE=BatmobileX;6826425]Let's see how long the RX lasts. If you've driven yours a while, post the year of your RX, how many miles, and any major work you've had to have done. I plan to drive mine for at least 10 years.[/QUOTE
Hello! I recently in August 2020 bought a used 1999 Rx 300 with $206,000 at purchase all owners manuals and oil change stickers where present so it seems to have been well maintained. I have done an oil change in the last month and my odimeter know reads 218,000 and the last $6,000 milea I put on doing delivery driving in city so alot of idleing stop and go and just this morning my check engine light came on and I belive the head gasket is blow. I had no other problems at all engine overheating, transmission at all leading up to this. I only drove around the corner to gas station and back with check engine light on so keep your fingers crossed for me I love this car reliable recommend and in my opinion you can get between 200,000 to 300,000 if you maintain them.

Is that a hunch? There can be quite a few reasons for CEL and a quick read with OBDII will give us the right pointer.

Wow, I started this post almost 10 years ago! I still have the same 2010 RX350 (second owner) and plan to drive it indefinitely. Love my car.

A general question for everyone. I still have the original struts and CV Joints and don't see any reason to change them yet. Is this unusual for a 2000 RX300. I live in South Florida where there are potholes.

I started out with my first RX in an 01 FWD model. I was the only owner and I wrecked it in 2016 with 316k miles on it. It had the original engine and transaxle. I survived an offset head on collision and walked away with only minor bruises. It handled and drove great and I was planning on keeping it as long as possible.
I have had two more RX's since. The second was a 2008 FWD RX350 with 180K, then just recently purchased an AWD 2013 with 80k. None of them have required major work. Just a few items to be expected with high mileage vehicles. Replaced rear struts and water pump on the 2008. (It had no timing belt) Of those three generation models, I loved the way the 01 RX300 drove and handled. It was the quietest ride of the three. The 08 RX350 had more power and had a little bit more road noise inside than I was accustomed to. It also handled well. I haven't driven the 13 AWD model enough yet to form an opinion. First impression is the AWD model is noisier and the suspension is real tight. Experiencing a lot of noise in the rear end when hitting bumps even after replacing a rear wheel bearing on the passenger side and a ball joint on the driver front side. Just the ride is rougher on the 13 than the others. I replaced the rear struts on the 08 after some cupping in tire wear. May end up getting the rear struts on the 13 done as well. I saw one VIN check showed it was a F-Sport model, so I'm thinking it could have the sport suspension. The wife drive that one, so if she's happy with it, I'm happy too.

I never replace the struts on my 01 RX300. Had it 16 years and 316k on it. When I bought it, the sticker said the were 'lifetime' struts. I was skeptical, but the never gave me any issues. That said, if they ain't broke, don't fix'em.

I just quieted the rear on mine by changing the rear sway bar bushings and strut upper mounts. The sway bar bushings are a cheap and easy job. One of the upper strut mounts was banging loudly, and if you put your hand on the tower inside the car while someone was driving you could feel the banging. The other mount was less obvious but changing it made a huge difference.

I have a 2000 Lexus RX300 AWD that just hit 245k miles. No major repairs either. Runs like a champ!
