Default What dipstick is behind the air filter?

I was changing air filter in my 2000 rx300 today and saw what appeared to be a tube that would accept a dipstick. I could not find any reference in the repair manual, the car manual, or on this website to a "mystery dipstick".

Thanks for any feedback

Welcome to Club Lexus!!

Do you happen to have a picture of the tube? Are you talking about the vaccum hose that's supposed to be connected to the airbox?

That makes a lot more sense than being a tube for a dipstick...I don't have a pic now, but lets assume that it is supposed to be connected to the airbox...the tube is metal, looks to be about 1/2" OD black metal tubing. I would suspect that there is a rubber/flex tube that would attach. Does that sound right?

That was it! It was a hose that had come loose while I was changing the air filter. I appreciate your help. Quick fix.
