Default Right Headlight is now pinkish/purple

Last night, when I took my son to work, as the headlights came on, the left one was white and bright as ever. The self-leveling feature worked on both, but the right headlight, in low beam, was a pinkish/purple, and dimmer than the other.

The headlights have a chrome cap over the bulb itself, so it reflects the light back to the back of the light. Does this sound like OEM headlights, or HID?

Anyone else ever had that happen? I've looked through the threads, and haven't found anything. Also, how do you get the bulb out? The back of the assembly doesn't seem to want to rotate in any direction, plus I have to contend with the brake lines and washer fluid funnel to get my hands back there.

Thanks in advance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Only the HID headlights have the self-leveling feature, so it sounds like you have HID (high intensity discharge) headlights and I'd guess you have a low voltage/power supply condition that is causing the off-white color.

You can remove the washer fluid funnel to get easier access to the headlight. There should be one screw that you have to take out in order to remove it.

Follow-up--the bulb died completely a couple of days later. New bulb fixed it. The new one is just a bit brighter than the older one now, so will probably replace it soon so they match.
Again, thanks for all the help and suggestions! This is a great forum for help and ideas.

Glad you fixed it! Where did you buy the bulb from?
