Default Driver side seat belt

My wife's RX need a new seat belt on driver side. Dealer quoted me $280.00 for the belt plus $250.00 to install it. How easy/hard to install this? I might be able to do this myself, my daughter is driving this vehicle too and soon it's gonna be hers. Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Would you please explain why you need a new seatbelt. There has been some discussion in the past on washing/cleaning the belt to improve it's flexibility and retraction. What part of the seatbelt is the problem?

I had a spring fail in the latching mechanism of my mother's 2002 ES300. I purchased the part, which included a cable assembly, (maybe $75) but only needed to replace part of it.

bob2200,
Seat belt is webbing on the edge, I cut 'em and burned the part that i cut to smooth it out. (5'long x 1/4' w) The webbing is gone but what I'm worrying about now is that I may have lose the strength of the belt. I should've took a picture and post it, my bad.

Reviving an old thread. Did you replace your seatbelt? I have this exact problem with my '02. I found the belt online for about $200, but I was curious how difficult it is to install. I'm fairly mechanically inclined, so I think I can do it, but I wanted to hear from someone with first hand experience.

CDSLex,

I did replace my seatbelt and it's not that difficult to replace it. I was uncertain in the beginning but after speaking to a technician I was confident that I can do these.

Remove part of the moulding on the driver side and rear left door passenger side (where the seatbelt is located) then remove the panel to expose the seatbelt, unbolt the seatbelt then replace the new seatbelt. Put everything back together and your done.
I bought my seatbelt at the dealer at discounted price for $230.00 (was $280.00) just want to have the OEM, am not sure about the strength of the aftermarket. On my opinion.

Great, thanks! Doesn't sound too difficult so I'll give it a try.

Default Seatbelt removal

If you are talking the front belt, there is a bit more to it than the four bolts that hold the end of the belt and retractor in place. There is a yellow plug that is part of the SRS system (Pre tensioner charge). This plug has a piece of black plastic running accross it that is pulled outward to release the plug. Also, since it is part odf the SRS, be sure to unplug the negative terminal of the battery and give the system a few sminutes to discarge before pluggin/unplugging the retractor.
I have had to learn recently due to an error 72 code in my system. Where are the cheapest places to get an OEM front drivers seatbelt/retractor assy in black?

Good luck
