Default Rear Struts

Hey, guys... So I had ordered struts for the RX300, but they got backordered from the website i was getting them from...This gave me some time to think if i really need them. I don't really have a budget for them... I take many road trips, so most of all the miles are highway.

I'm going to be taking a pretty major road trip the last week of June. Usually i only go to michigan and back about every month but this time I have to go down to florida. So, I'm going from NJ, to Orlando,FL, to Sunrise, FL , and then Atlanta, then up to Michigan, Chicago and back to NJ. This is about 3600 miles total...

Now the question... Should I replace the rear struts and mounts, before i go? Will the rear end sag if it's heavily weighed down? The struts at all four corners are pretty good, it's just the mounts that are bad mostly the rear one's but the front one's aren't that great either.... So, will it be sag in the rear due to all the luggage or will it be fine? I just don't want it bottoming out. That's all.

Once I get back from the trip, I'll eventually get around to changing them. (once i have a budget again). Gas for the trip is going to cost me roughly $600, as in the past this trip has costs me around $500 but the high gas prices will break me this time around.

Lexmex: where in Florida are you located? Maybe we can meet up or something.

As far as I know, struts are just dampers and the springs do all of the real weight lifting. Good struts will slow bouncing and probably help to keep it from building momentum to bottom out when compressed, but for driving down the highway I doubt new struts will make any real difference. Did you see that thread with the really cheap but maybe good struts from a few months ago?

Yeah, the APX struts. I'm going to go with kyb though, more expensive but they'll last way longer than 60,000 miles (that's what the apx struts are rated for).
