I have a 1999 RX300 in need of knock sensors. I have found some good prices on ebay and rockauto parts on after market sensors from companies such as Standard. Has anyone out there had success or failure of sensors from any of the aftermarket companies versus the original part from lexus. Any insight would be appreciated.

The labor (paid or your own) is extensive. When I replaced mine, I did not even consider after market as I think it was not worth taking a chance. Since the factory ones lasted 130k+ miles there is very little impetus to look for an alternative.

I agree with salimshah, if the original one lasted you 12 years, why buy aftermarket... Check out rockauto for good prices.
