These are pretty reliable suvs, minus the transmission, i rarely ever heard of things needing to be replaced. At the same time, i know how you feel when your looking for things to fix, back when we had a mercedes, it was completely normal, and when we first got lexus, we were expecting the same thing, but that has completely changed since 2000 when we got our first lexus

There isn't really any other maintenance other than what's in the manual, even then most of that isn't necessary.
I can believe that. Take care of a good car and it will take care of you.

Not that I can really contribute as my '99 has not passed even the 60k mark yet, but I can attest to the ride and that it still has that new car ride, in fact it rides just as nice as my 330.

I, too have done a drain and fill of the tranny back around 47k miles if I remember correctly, which was when I took ownership of the car. So I am nearly due for another D/F, and I really don't mind doing it since it is inexpensive and easy to do. I will do them every 15-20k miles. For what it's worth, with 10k on the latest drain and fill, the fluid is still cherry red, which is encouraging. It's hard to tell how much of a problem these transmissions really are. I am of the belief that those who have mentioned their transmission problems here, sought out websites like this to see what others have done and how they have handled the problems. I think the overwhelming majority of RX300 users out there don't have problems. Unfortunately, we don't tend to hear from them. Certainly there are those who will disagree.

It goes without saying that I plan in driving this car 30 years from now...
