Thanks. I thought you open the head unit and located the mute connection behind the head unit/radio. My mistake.

To perhaps close this subject out, I am advised by Factory Car Stereo Repair in Florida that the Nakamichi and the Pioneer amps are NOT interchangeable. The latter are available in abundance on ebay; the former are not.
