reverse going out? replace trans oil on this 2002 rx300?
hey guys
so a couple days ago we are driving the rx300 and when we try to pull out of a parking spot the car didnt go anywhere in reverse
it went to the R slot, but no jerk and no movement once so ever.
drove it today and it seemed to work fine.
worth dropping the pan and doing the triple bybass? or is the trans goonnnee.
havent got my dad to use amsoil yet... i do in the SC. wouldnt want him to drop the money on it and then have the trans go out anyways. then he'd never use it hahah.
lookin for some opinions.
the trans has had the fluid changed a couple times before. its at 110,000 miles now. think he had it last changed at 90,000. not flushed just changed and im now wondering if it has ever even had the pan dropped and filter changed...
what do ya think??

If the only thing that is wrong is reverse is gone and it shifts fine and everything else is fine, then definitely drop the pan and change the filter. It will cost probably $60 bucks total, but worth it if it fixes the tranny. I think $60 is better than the cost of a new transmission.

I don't have any direct experience, but definitely think it is worth dropping the transmission pan and taking a look. If there is a lack of metal debris, maybe it is something simple (e.g., a shift solenoid).
