Help Tracking Down the Evap Codes...0441 0447
Like the title states... ive down a bit of reading on this site in the threads... it seems the dealer will automatically say charcoal canister.. since its the most expensive part.... Ive checked the back of the airbox... hose seems to be attached pretty well.... i think ill start with the gascap.... since i noticed what looked like lube in there..and the cap itself is insanely hard to remove when i go to fill up... also there seems to be a bit more pressure, from the hiss sounds i get when the cap actually does come off.....
Codes are 0441 0447..... gonna try to track em down myself if possible.. so all help is greatly appreciated...
Cheers

P0440- Evaporative Emission Control System Malfunction
(caused by the fuel trank pressure being equivalent to atmospheric pressure after 20 minutes with vehicle on)
Areas to check:
Vapor pressure sensor
fuel cap
vacuum hose
fuel tank
charcoal canister
P0441 Evaporative Emission Control System, Incorrect Purge Flow
P0446 " Vent Control Malfunction
these 2 codes usually accompany the P0440 and they have similar trouble areas

Back Again.... I had the mechanic check out the gascap when he was clearing my code for free the other day and he said it was fine... The toyota dealer that is one of my clients told me that its the valve on the canister almost 100% they see it alot on that engine on the highlander...and its $100 part..... ive been doing seaching online and ebay.. but maybe im looking in the wrong places.... does anyone have that oem part number so i can go about tracking down it somewhere else... i just dont want to buy it from toyota if possible....
