carb/throttle body cleaner on headlights
I did a stupid thing and srpayed some throttle body cleaner on one the headlights of my 99 RX300 in order to clean it. It ended up making the surface of the headlight very rough and feels like there is a white coating on it. I have tried to wash it and apply polishing compound it hasn't help. I was thinking if wet sanding it with 1500 grit sand paper. Any ideas? Thanks.

What made you do that?

Well I accidently sprayed some touch up paint on the headlight. Carb cleaner seemed to work really well on taking paint off except for on the headlight
I tried wet sanding. It made it a little better but still the lense is still not clear. I think I am going to pick up a headlight restoration kit.

Just remember, the headlight lens is made out of plastic and not glass.

Yup, I learned the hardway. I tried scrubbing the headlight with a mixture of toothpaste and baking soda after reading about it online. I thought it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. The lense looks much better now. I would say its 90% clear now. I scrubbed the mixture on the lense with a microfiber towel. I will do it couple more times to see if I can get it back to original condition.
