You could switch one coil from one of the other 5 ignition coils and put it on cylinder 2 and see if that is the issue. How soon did you get the CEL light on that showed the 302 code when you left the dealer?

Right here under the cover. The bolt holding that ignition coil is 10mm.

Switched the #4 & 2 coils....it was the 2. $87 for new one...couldn't wait to save $20. Also changed out all plugs to NGK...car "was "running" like a top. Shifting was much faster.
That was 2 days ago. Yesterday after gassing up...hit the freeway to head to San Diego...engine light came on. Have to borrow the hand held for a re-check. Pissed off I am although I had a guy not only change out all the plugs but coil as well for only $80. It's damn hot here in CA and to get to the back plugs it's all by feel...patience and very small tools....with TONS of sweat. He's gonna change my rear brakes for $30.....Hey! if he's got the tools and the price is cheap...by all means. If I can do lighter things with tools I already have..which isn't a lot...I'll do those. Me...not full time DIY....lol
New engine light hasn't come with the previous shaking so I wonder what the deal is.

Just used the help here to fix the number 3 coil on my RX300.

Had P0300, P0302, and P0303.

I figured that since #3 was the hardest to get to, it was probably the bad one. Parts store only had one coil, so I got it, busted my knuckles getting the thing out, then in, cleared codes and fired it up. No more codes after test drive.

Just signed up to say THANK YOU! Appreciate the advice.

The car is still rough hopefully because of that bad coil that I'm replacing today.
I'll keep you posted, thanks again.
LexMex and Salim, it is so nice to know that you guys are helping the newbies to understand the mechanics of fixing car problems. I have the same problem as ESugar, This started when i got my timing belts changed as previously the timing was off by 1 tooth. I tried swapping the coils and the spark plugs, also change the VVT in the front bank towards the radiator. it was clogged. and also i had mentioned earlier that i had sludge in my car. It is an RX300, 2000 with 140K miles on it. Changed O2 Sensors already. Keeps on getting P0302 error code with my OBD II, and the RPM shoots to 3k to 4K while driving above 40 MPH. Please help. I am so tired of this car, that i just want to dump it and dont have any patience with it. I tried the fuel injectors and also get a P0440 code for vacuum leak and over filling my fuel tank. I am not sure if replacing the charcoal canister will help as it is too expensive to replace it.

You can do so much as an enthusiast. There comes a time when you have to go for a professional debugged possible repair.
