Default How to Disable ABS on 2000 RX300

So I am fed up with this ABS problem and for now I would like to disable the ABS. How can that be done? Do i pull out a fuse? If so, does anyone have a diagram to show me which one and also, would it mess up any part of the odometer or turn on my ABS light?
Thanks, Androu

You can pull the fuse, it's in the smaller fuse box inside the main large fuse box under the hood. This small fusebox is kind-of L shaped, it has 7 spaces and 6 fuses in there, 2 big ones on the left, empty gap, then 4 smaller ones. The first big one is the ABS fuse.

I don't know if it will bring any long-term problems. I am guessing that ABS light will probably be lit. You might actually get CEL light lit too.

The ABS light will come on but no CEL or long term problems other than no ABS which is a safety feature. There is a trick to getting the fuse out, it is bolted from behind.

I didn't pull the fuse out, it's such a PITA.

However, I have been running without ABS for sometime, I also hate it and don't stop as well with it. I pulled out a plug located here on the passenger side by the coolant reservoir and that has disabled it, though the ABS light has lit up. I know some people with Toyota Tacomas would have done the same thing and eventually the ABS light burns out, but mine is still lit. You could in theory get behind the dash and remove the light altogether.

I have had no long-term issues, and as I said I stop better without the ABS on.

Another option is to remove the ABS relay which is located in the drivers side of the engine compartment. It's inside the rectangle fuse compartment. In my case, it was a "lime green" colored relay, next to the empty socket, away from the engine. There is a fuse / relay diagram on the flip side of the cover you took off to gain access. All fuses and relays are identified on that diagram.

Removing the relay in my 2000 RX300 immediately resolved the "jerky braking" I had been experiencing. It was getting worse each week and now I have smooth braking again, albeit without ABS assist. As you may know (or be shocked to find out), the replacement of the reluctance ring on a wheel is a very expensive repair when I checked. About $500, half for the parts and half for the labor.

Forgot to mention, the ABS light is on but it had been on prior to removing the relay as well.

Not sure where you are in Minnesota but I had Proven Force in Maple Grove put a new reluctance ring on the left rear axle. ~$70. If you can pull the axle (I thought I was pretty easy) just drop it off and less than 30 minutes later they will have it done.

Working ABS is nice to have.

Thanks for the lead. My toolbox is filled with left handed monkey wrenches, so that establishes my mechanical ability regarding pulling an axel!

The local (Chisago City, MN) independent service shop says the do not have the diagnostic equipment to determine which wheel is causing the problem. How did you figure out which wheel needed service / repair?

See this thread which explains how to read the codes

And the below chart for the code description.

I tried that but when i thought this was a good quick fix, i heard a beep. so guess the fuse i removed only helped so much. the other is bolted down
