Default How long is the life for Front and Rear Struts

I replaced my old all front and rear struts with original Lexus struts (black color) on around mid 2006. But the past six months i feel bumpy on the roads. I keep my tires pressure always 31kp. When i replace all struts i didnot
change the lower insulators or tops. Normaly how long the srtuts stay in good condition on 2000 AWD. Any experiences please feel free to share with me.

I've read a couple of threads on this topic & from what I've read it's not unusual for the originals to last 100k+ miles. I'm at 93k miles & zero problems - actually one of the bright spots of my '01.

For the first few years while I was in Mexico, I noticed some creaking on my rears struts, but not really an issue that I noticed as far as ride. It took some rough roads to eventually kill one of my shocks (passenger side front), but I am sure on U.S. roads I would have gotten 100K easily without a hitch. I remember that Nissans and Hondas were very much known for having suspension issues while I lived in Mexico, but I never heard much about Toyotas in the same context even after they'd been there a few years.

I just change the rear struts at 159k miles, however I put new upper mounts in also...The ride definetly improved. The front mounts (upper) have been my big pain. They just dont hold up...However I am using Napa parts for that mount....

Thanks everyone. Today i checked my front shocks lower insulators are tearing. But i don't know about the rear struts. So far there is no leaks on the front struts. I will check both rear.
Hi Lexmex: can you please explain about the lower red hose insulators for all struts. Does it help better ride ? Which brand struts are good KYB GR-2 or original Lexus ?

What the hose insulation replaces is below, the lower supports (which are rubber) and get chewed up over time. I replaced these a few times from my recollection when I was in Mexico and finally gave in to my Uncle's insistence we go to the red hosing...he was right. It doesn't get chewed up like the rubber and over time keeps the ride solid and no clanging from chewed up rubber exposing spring to the lower part of the shock.

I only got to expose these shocks to Mexican roads for about 3 months before I went home, but they do have a better ride than the original shocks. I notice I could take turns a lot better at higher speeds. They're a bit stiffer than the OEM shocks, but they don't have a harsh feeling when going over bumps. I'd do the KYBs again based on my experience.

Can you tell me what kind of rubber tubing you're using? A plumbing type? Diameter? (Inside and/or outside diameter) Looks like a perfect solution, Lexmex!
