Default oversize filter for auto-rx treatment

This is kind of a stupid question, but when you guy`s did your auto rx treatment (those of you who did) did you use an over size filter?,or the stock size filter? Also, I`m not sure if I should do the normal treatment, or the severe sludge treatment. Any opinion`s?

I like Napa 1516, which is a Wix filter sold in Napa Auto Parts.
Lexmex may not agree with me but FRAM XG3600 is a cheaper oversized filter, the inferior quality may not matter since Auto-RX cycles require very short oil changes.

Unless you know you have heavy sludge, go with the normal treatment.

I actually just changed my from the first clean phase of Auto RX. 2500 miles with Auto RX and dino oil, now onto the rinse phase. I cut open the K&N 2009 filter and was prepared to take pictures but it was very clean!

My engine does not show any visual or mechanical signs of sludge. So, I'm basically following the over 100K plan, one 2500 mile clean phase followed by a rinse, the repeat once more.

I already put Auto RX in the transfer case, rear diff, power steering, and transmission for 1,000 miles and got it out. I got a better deal for multiple bottles so why not!

I went with the larger K&N 2009 filter not for the Auto RX treatment, but since it's longer that OEM.....It's so easy to get off with just a 1" socket and ratchet

So you run the oversize filter all the time then? How many qts. of oil does it hold with the larger filter?

I just put in about 4.9 quarts. And yes, run the larger one all the time now.

LOL. I think that particular FRAM is actually a good filter, but too often people feel that FRAM overall is bad, when actually there are filters like this one that are not your ordinary FRAM filter. I actually used to have a similar feeling about K&N oil filters from some initial opinions going back well over 5 years ago, until I put one to the test and then others seemed to like it over their own non-K&N filters.
