rubber boot on the rear shock absorber is cracked.... how do I replace it?
rubber boot on the rear shock absorber is cracked.... the crack is about one
inch long.... how do I replace it? or do I need to replace the whole shock?

I'm not sure I follow, are you talking about the piece of rubber here that's at the base just below the spring or are you talking about the piece just above it that hangs down. Either one and you need to remove the shock in the latter case and the spring in the previous case from my recollection.

I just ordered that upper boot which is part of the shock mount.....for the rear at Rock Auto.com $49 and yes you have to take the strut out and compress the spring to replace it. That is my next project as I am also replacing the shocks with KybGR2 shocks (10 years old and 160k miles) I already did the fronts, but the wife said the rear is making squeeking noise so it is time....

One of my rear boots is ripped too. The purpose of the boot is to keep the dirt out of the shaft area and thereby prolonging the life of the damper. With almost 10yrs and 140k miles, I have decided to leave it alone. The effort and expense involved in changing the boot alone is not worth it for me. My decision is to let the damper fail at a faster rate and then replace them both (damper + boot) at the same time.
