Default Possible to add rear spoiler?

I am looking at getting a preowned 2001 RX300 that is loaded with NAV, but it does not have the rear spoiler. It has the two roof racks, but that is it. From the pics online, it is looking a little bare. Is it possible / difficult / expensive to add the rear spoiler? Anythnig else to add to it so it doesn't look so mini-van like?

It is possible and will require drilling. Check you dealer for a price on the spoiler and go from there. Rod Millen offers a version of his own for the RX:

is it possible that you have a picture of your RX with the spoiler? I have a 02 RX without a spoiler and have been contemplating adding one. I would like to see what the aftermarket spoiler installed from Spoilerdepot looks like. thanks in advance.

edscuba hasn't been on in almost 5 years, but you could pm him and see if he has his own photos.

The one on the right on this page, http://www.spoilerdepot.com/1999-on-...RX330-Spoilers looks close to the version found on the latest RX300s. There's another version that came on 99's like mine that had a 45 degree angle (I removed mine) that wasn't too fond of.

Lexmex - thanks - I found the site and the picture looks right and so does the price. I think this is the route to go to get rid of the 'egg' shape and get a more sporty look for my preference.

I was also going to go for that look at one point, but decided to leave it off for weight/aerodynamic reasons, though I must admit the later spoiler that came with the RX looks much better than the original 45 degree angle spoiler that started with the 99 models.

Just find a used one on ebay and have a local autobody shop paint it (if needed). You don't need to do any drilling if you load it up with 3m two-sided tape. There's enough surface area coming in contact with the car so that it will hold on fine.

you'd be surprised, that 3m double sided tape is strong as hell. The spoiler is light anyways. There's enough surface area to hold it on well enough.

How will it do driving down the highway at 80? And will you be liable if it comes off and wrecks someone on a bike? Why not just secure it with a screw or two????

you can drill holes, i just don't think it's needed with the strength and durability of the 3M tape.

If that is the case, they would tape them on at the factory or port. It needs to be bolted on. I did mine, 4 small holes and they provide a template with the factory spoiler. It will take 1 hour to do the job right.
