Antifreeze is not leaking? It could be leaked antifreeze, head gasket issue blower issue.

I think 21 is the "solar sensor" Part # 8862533150

I would not hit those screws with an impact that you smack with a hammer. Maybe an electric mpact driver like the kind you use to install deck screws.

Code 21 is for the solar sensor circuit as mentioned above. However, you do not need to replace it. You got that code because you likely performed the test in the dark where the solar sensor didn't pick up any light.

You can ignore the code. But if you aren't convinced yet, put a flashlight on the solar sensor and re-run the test, the code should go away.

Why cant i use a hammer and tap on the back of a philips screwdriver? If not that then how else am i gonna get those screws out because as i mentioned it seems like they are "stuck" in there to the point I cant get them out. I mean these things just dont want to budge for the life of me; so any real evidenced ideas that DO actually work would be great. I just want to get that glove box out so i can observe the servos in action to make sure they are functioning correctly even though Im not getting any error codes when i do the diagnostic function of holding auto plug recirc. buttons. Cause when i needed heat it seemed like there was not much heat coming out of the drivers side vent(not sure about the right front pass. vent as i did not check that one).

I just can't picture hammering anything in that area would be a good idea. Too many electrical and plastic parts, IMO. I would get a cordless impact like this: http://www.lowes.com/pd_234058-70-PC...ver&facetInfo=

and push hard and hit the button. Should not be hard to track one down with so many cordless drills coming as a drill/driver set these days.

An impact tool is always nice but absent that maybe all you need is a little leverage. Since your screwdriver tip is a good fit you can lock a vise-grip on the screwdriver shaft and use it to turn the screwdriver while you push on the handle.

eh; that impact driver is way out of my price range and budget. I would need to get something that is inexpensive but that will get the job done. I did find another philips screwdriver that im gonna try and use and see if i can get them out that way. If not then i will probably just resort to going to pepboys or something and get them to help me get it out.

Just ask around a little, one of your buddies has one that came with a drill.

Question Fair Price?

I wish I knew how to fix cars... especially my Lexus! It seems my heater is not working and the repair guy at the Toyota dealership told me the "little door" in the air mix servo is not working. To order the part is $1,060 and to do the labor is $700.00. Is this correct? I'm reading these posts and to me it seems complicated because I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO REMOVE THE GLOVE BOX OR GET IN THERE, but assume that to a mechanic, it's fairly easy.

Well; supposedly all ya gotta do is remove the 2 top screws and the 2 bottom bolts that hold the glove box in place and from there you should be able to clearly see the air mix servo and the mode servo. I forget which one is which but if you look back in this thread there should be a pic showing which one is which.

that is a rip off. The part is as low as $95 on ebay and less than $200 shipped from online Lexus dealers. I would think you ought to be able to find an independent repair shop to do this for $500 including the part.

Also I am assuming it is the air mix servo that is bad. Do you hear any noise coming from that area under the glove box? When the air mix goes bad most people complain of an irritating noise like a small animal is rooting around under the dash or a repetitive clicking noise.
