Replacement Master Key
Hi, this is my first post on this forum. I heard good things about this forum and I'm hoping you can help me.
My master key broke apart and the inside computer part was lost. I now use my valet key to drive the car. I would like to replace the master key w/ keyless remote but was quoted $500-$700 from the Lexus dealers around here because it involves reflashing the ECU. I can't afford that and was wondering if you have any suggestions as to what I can do to get another keyless remote master key for a decent price.
Thanks,
C

Do you only have one key that has a remote?

I only have one key and it does not have the remote. I was told it is the valet key.

If you do a search, you'll find that this has been discussed quite a bit in the past. The price that Lexus gave you sounds like a partially subsidized price. There are companies out there that you can send the ECU to and they will reflash it and provide new keys, but it isn't much less expensive, as I recall, (if the $500-$700 includes a new spare key).

I think these guys will flash the computer for something like $125 plus another $145 for the key.
