wheels/ tires on 99' RX300 question
I don't understand offset and tried searching for an explation. What I came up with is that don't get bigger then +38 or something.
So my 99 AWD needs some new rims and tires.
There is a type of rim i want to get but note sure it will fit since the offset seems so far away from the +38 number
It is a 18x8 (is that too big)
offset +20, +30, +35 or +40
5x114 (is htat the right pattern. On discount tire, it says 5x120 i think)
Tire size:
235-55-18 (stock size for the 18" wheels )- i guess preferred but only a couple of brands come in that size.
Can i use ?
245-50-18
235-50-18
235-60-18
or others
I'm going to but rims/tires this week as mine are bald. Worst case is to stick w/ the dull 16" but i prefer not.
Do i have to get rims in the SUV catagory or can i get ones that are made for cars. I guess it depends on the load rating right?
Thanks

still no answer from any guru's
How about this:
Can somebody tell me the bolt pattern for a 1999. Is it 5x114?
Can a offset of +20 work?
Is this the widest tire i can use? 355-55-18
thanks

Hi Crocair- Sorry I can't be of more help at the moment (maybe tomorrow) but I would like to bring up 1 thing. Unless you have used this size of tire (wide, low profile) on a vehicle similar to the RX before or are very motivated to compromise ride quality for looks, I don't think you are going to be very happy with end result. I don't blame you for wanting a better look (I'm a wheel man myself) but the ride is going to be CONSIDERABLY more harsh. Just something to think about. Best of luck.

Yeah, the bolt pattern is a 5x114. As far as offset goes I think you would want to go with +20. And no, your 18x8 wheel is not too big. If money isn't an issue I'd recommend going with at least 20's, as ride quality doesn't really change from 18's to 20's. But that's all up to you man.

Thanks Keepdabeat,
i just needed confirmation on the bolt pattern.
Haha, 20's would be dope. But tires are a grip for dubs.
So the lower the offset the better i am to ensuring fitment of the rim. I think +38 is stock. So anything lower is good. Unless i'm wrong.
Thanks

Yeah, if you have any doubt, just call discountedwheelwarehouse and pretend like you're going to buy them from them. They'll get you all the info you need. I'll try and get some pictures of the 22's up here maybe this afternoon.
