I ordered a new 4 wire front O2 sensor for my '99 RX300 from car-part.com. When I went to install it I realized I need the clip that the wires go into. Where should I get a O2 sensor that fits? Can anyone help?

I think that earlier link I posted was showing the rear one. I would check with the vendor before ordering to make sure you are getting the correct one.

I think the one that you need is $165.

When there is a need for me to replace the O2 sensor, I would most probably replace both. I would replace one if it fails early in its life cycle.

Hi Paul-
I noticed you're from Mn. I don't know what Mn. used in 99 on the Rx300 (if it was sold there) but Ca. definitely used A/F sens. and they are definitely not the same as O2 sens. Frequently parts books WRONGLY list O2 sens. for front and rear exhaust manifolds and they will NOT work if it came with A/F ratio sens. They may look very similar but they are very different animals. Look on your existing sensors (you may have to use a mirror if the # is turned toward the bottom) and you will find the part# lazer etched on the barell of the sensor. It's very small, but it is there. If the first part of the# is 89467 it is a A/f ratio sens. and the O2 sensors are the wrong thing and will NOT work. When I replaced them on my daughter-in-laws car (99Rx300) The best price I was able to find even on-line wholesale was about $160.00 each. That was original equip Denso. That's where I got mine when I had part failure and it works fine. I've got an ES300 but it's the same engine.

I searched for what felt like years when it happened to me and that was the absolute best deal I found. Don't go for ebay either, I ordered one from there and had to return it because it was a fake denso part clearly.

This is the correct sensor-and that is the best price you are going to find-I actually asked the Toyota dealer if they could price match (I needed them immediately) and the best they could do was about $162.00. I took it because with shipping the price came out close to the same. If you are going to keep the car for a while I would change both. The rear is a tough one though- very difficult to get the plug out of the clip. Good luck.-Roger

So the code P1135 is for the sensors attached to the manifolds? Those would be O2 sensors on a different vehicle? Autozone has the O2 sensors but don't list anything for A/F sensors...?? Help!

Hi-
Correct- they look like O2 sens. but about 99 they changed to A/F - a very much different part and a lot more expensive. The O2 (which most aftermarket parts books erroneously list) will not work. Do a search on Google on O2 sens. compared to A/F sens. and you will see the major difference. There is a ton of info. on the net on it. The P1135 code is A/F ratio sensor circuit malfunction, bank 1, sensor 1. That is the rear one next to the firewall- a duzzy to change mainly because of the difficulty getting the plug unclipped from the plastic bracket on the wire loom. When my daughter-in-laws went bad the car was in Seattle and I had to do the learning curve long distance. It did not affect running, would just reset the CE light soon after it was turned off. When the car was eventually back down here I replaced both of them (car had 100k miles). I tore the bad one apart and sure enough the heating filament was fractured. The heater is there PRIMARILY to bring it (the sensor) up to temp. rapidly and get it into closed loop quickly. The A/F sensors run much hotter than O2 sensors, about 1400 deg. compared to 600 deg. It will run OK with that problem but should be changed as soon as you are able. It will not pass smog with a check eng. light on. See above for best advice on getting the A/F at the best price. My advice---don't waste your time going any other route than orig. Denso.

Thanks, I understand that it serves as a wide band a/f meter, very nice for an engine like that. I guess it affects MPG as mine is very bad right now and at the same time is throwing the trac off light. I reset the lights yesterday when I cleaned the MAF and speed sensors, disconnected the neg for about 30 minutes and after a test drive, the CEL and Trac Off light came on simultaneously...

I found it on ebay and from lexus part online for $150.00 with the same part number from Toyota that they retail for $206.00. Will order and hopefully that will clear the P0125 and the Trac Off light as well.
