Default Considering to put 19" on RX300 -- any ideas? suggestions? thanks...

Hi,

I'm seriously thinking of putting a set of 19" on my RX300. Maybe 19x8 or 19x8.5, with tires 255/50/19 Michelin tires. I don't want to go any bigger (although I love big rims), 'cause the tires get thinner...

I have a few selections in mind for the wheels... either the Dronell type M05 or the Lowenhart LD1 (silver with chrome lips).

I may also consider TEIN coilovers just to lower the ride a little little bit.

What do you all think? Do you think my ride will be rough? not comfortable anymore? too stiff? Advice, comments, suggestions please...

thank you very much!

19" would look cool, but make sure the rear tires
have enough clearance with the rear struts!!! (spacer may be needed)

if you go 19 x8 or 8.5 you will need spacers....possibly for all four wheels, but definately in the rear. with that size tire on a 19 you will also rub inside the front fenders at full turn.

i have 18 x7.5 +38 offset with 255/55 and i needed spacers on the back wheels. the front tires also barely rub at full turn.

if you lower it this could make the situation a little worse unless you drop your tire size.

Hleo, I am also looking into 19's for my RX.. You really don't want to go that wide the max width to do would be 7.5" don't go any wider than that. Here are the rims I am looking into. They have a nice size lip and rim is beautiful....

Default Spacers... where can I get them? which ones?

What size spacers will I need? My main priority for tire size is that I want thicker tires, not the very low profile, that's why I wanted to get the 255/50 series...

Hleo1,

I put 19x8 Ziet R wheels by Bridgestone Japan on my RX300. Originally, I put the 255/50-19 Michelin Diamaris (Exact tires on the front wheels for the BMW X5 sports package with the 19 inch wheels) on my truck. The front wheels and tires rubbed at full turn on the front wheels and the back wheels rubbed on top of the fender and on the inside (spacers will definitely be needed). Plus, when I did put them on, the car looked like a offroading vehicle so if this is your plan, I would definitely recommend putting some lowering springs on your RX. I eventually went with a lower profile tire, 245/40-19 and I plan on lowering my RX. Hope this helps.

Question

Bro, do you still have the problem with rubbing with the smaller tires in thr back, and how is the ride and the feel while driving??

The ride is not as good mainly because I went from a 70 sidewall to a 40, but it is still not a problem. These tires clear the fender so rubbing is not a problem. Also, I get a better feel for the road because of the 245 upgrade from 225. Ideally, I would have liked to get 255/45-19 or 245/45-19 but at the time, I wanted to get more of an all season tire with good treadware (I dont know why I did this cause presently I have taken my wheels off for the winter!) but I ended up getting 245/40-19 Dunlop SP9000. Only problem I have with my tire selection is that the ugly fender gap is now a little bigger so I plan on adding lowering springs.

Default I need help too

Hey guys, I just purchased a set of Racing Hart Z5000 19X7.5 and I have decided to go with tires 255/45/18. However, I haven't took the wheels to the shop yet, do I need spacers, or should I ask when is the time to use spacers??
