Default Cheap mods for RX300?

Are there any cheap mods I can do to my mom's RX300? Say, anything under $100.

Lightbulb Cheap and practical!

Gamezilla, I can't think of any worthwhile mods for <$100, but you might try this:

Check out the selection of detailing products from Zaino Bros, Meguier's, Zymol, etc. For just a few bucks, and a day or two's "sweat equity", you can make a huge improvement in the appearance of that RX - and increase resale value!

(Mom might let you drive it, too!!)

Default Cheap

Remove the logoes from the bottom of the rear hatch.

Disable the tail light filament section of the bulb in the hatch fixture and replace with 27 Ohm 10 watt resisters so the "light out" indicator doesn't light.

DSisable the DRLs by unplugging the resister pak under the battery plate.

Add a switch under the dash so the fog lamps can be turned on independently of the main beams.

Put an aluminum foil "mask" inside the map light lens so the light can be used by a passenger without blinding the driver

I thought it was illegal in US to drive in high beam with foglights on? I have often been blinded in a car by badly designed SUV lights behind me. Imagine what foglights can do in addition to that! Please clarify.

Default foglights

No, there is no law that I am aware of that says fogs cannot be used independently of other lights. For many years now most vehicles automatically turned them off with high beams on the assumption that if you lit the high beams it must not be foggy.

In the last 10 years or so most of the Japanese manufacturers allow them to be turned on with the low beams only, which, of course defeats the whole purpose.

Fog lamps should always be amber or yellow tinted to increase contrast and should ALWAYS have a very low light cutoff "masking", even lower than your low beams.

Since you're here in the NW you may ski, and if so you probably already know that yellow tinted ski goggles increase the contrast in "whiteout" conditions. Supplying ONLY amber "light" instead of wider spectrum, white, light has the same affect.

And I totally agree with you about SUV's and BIG PU trucks that have an array of lighting that they don't seem to know how to turn off when not needed. Royal pain in the EYE!
