Any way to stiffen suspension?
Hey guys,
I posted this thread in the suspension sub-forum, but realized that very few people go there. Anyways, my question is whether anyone makes sway bars for our RX's. Or is there any way to stiffen the suspension other than that? There's, imo, too much body roll when cornering at moderate speeds.
Thanks,
Peter.

Of course, part of the problem is inherent to any vehicle with a high center of gravity. However, some of the members here who have driven the SS back to back with the stock RX report tighter, stiffer handling. This would imply that the SS has different springs and shocks, which you could in turn have installed in your RX for some defree of improvement.
But I'm not sure if anyone has done it to this point (at least, that has posted about it).

easy out...
Your can accomplish some of the better roadway "feel" you seem to desire by upgrading to 17X8 wheels and tires. You will need to use 1" spacers in the rear at least, although I added them all the way around.
This will not actually "lower" the car, but it will provide it with about a 3" wider stance, somewhat off-setting th effects due to an otherwise "higher" center of gravity (ratio).
Wider wheels and one inch lower sidewalls all around will give you a more "solid" roadway "feel", as will the wider tread width (more total roadbed "contact patch). I chose my tires, Michellin XCs, more for quietness than otherwise, but you could op to choose a tire with an even stiffer sidewall.
Oh, the 17X8s (RH brand{?} give the RX a more muscular "look", more along the lines of the X5 rather than the factory T&C minivan look.

I agree with wwest on the wheel/tire package. Myself, I would go with wider wheels/tires to improve handling before I modded the suspension. If I did mod the suspesion - I'd check out the SS MacPherson struts as mooretorque suggested.
So, basically, I've just repeated what has already been said

Drive the Silversport edition before making any changes to your
own RX...
I asked the service advisor about installing the Silversport
suspension parts in regular RXs last week. He had a customer
who had it done for around $1100(Lexus parts & labor) Two
weeks later, the guy came back and had all the original parts
put back on. Good thing he kept the old parts.... He found the
ride "not Lexus-like" and decided to go back...
