Default Ordering/Changing Antenna Mast

I need to replace my antenna mast on my '01 RX. It retails for $58.61 (per my dealer). Does anyone know where to find an OEM replacement for less? Also, is it difficult to replace? Any special tools needed?

are you sure it is just the mast you need? Is the ant. noisey when you operate it?

I'm sure, the car wash took care of it earlier. The motor was changed out under warranty a year ago or so as the car was a CPO.

I have a 2000 RX300 and purchased a replacement antenna mast from EBay for $19.95 including shipping. There is a long nylon cord that comes with the mast and it drives the antenna up and down. In my case, the plastic cord was broken so I had to open the antenna motor case to remove the old cord. If your cord is still attached as one long piece then the installation of your replacement mast will only take about 15 minutes.

Sorry to revive this post, does anyone have anything to say about the OEM part from this company. The dealer wants $85. My mechanic told me to buy genuine from the dealer because OEM are sometimes a different size, and you need to resize the cable. What do you guys say?

Thank you. Did you buy genuine or after market?

Just ordered an antenna from them last night ($26.50) for my daughters 4Runner that went through a carwash with the radio on.

I'll let you know how it goes.

My earlier inquiries included 'removing the fender' and/or '$250 for antennea motor'
Thanks for the link.

Here is a link showing the surgery with pics http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/audio/powerantenna.html
One change for me is the first pic with the flat screwdriver.
I have better luck with a pair of needle-nose pliers, straight down on opposing slots.
Much safer for the paint.
I hope my situation isn't that involved.

Antenna from antennamastrus came in saturday (4 days).
The replacement and original were identical.
The old plastic cable wasn't broken off.
Had partial success, on the install. The old came out easy enough but, the motor wouldn't grab the new cable after many attempts. All stations were picked on the radio, which was what my daughter wanted. Just left the antenna extended. It can be lowered by hand before entering a car wash.
Not worth $85 to her for a stealership fix.

Thanks for the feedback. I bought mine from the same guys over the weekend. I saw others on e-bay, from different companies, going as low as $9.99 + shipping, but they didn't look OEM.
I hope I get mine this weekend and will put it in over the weekend.
