Default list your rx modifications

i enjoy reading what other people did to their rx300. also it will give others new ideas. and esp me, considering mine is leased so everything i do has to be temporary.

current simple mods. starting from front of truck to rear
- rainbow colored headlights (instead of hyper white)
- custom made air intake (increased sound of engine very nicely)
- 255/65/16 perreli scorpian tires (very aggressive look)
- kenwood 600amp and 3 10'' audiobahn bandpass sub (for sale)
- 5 neon blue interior lights that flash to beat of music
- neon blue under car neons, (also flash to beat of music)
- 2 red lazers pointed to ceiling (patterns change to beat of music)
- custom made center console switches for interior neons, outside neons, lazers, rear taillight strobes and music sensitivity control
- sony playstation and console tv
- rear taillight strobes

i think thats everything. waiting 5 more months to do lots more to my new released 2002 rx.

what did you do to your truck?

2001 RX300 AWD Burnished Gold

1. Monotone paint by Lexus approved shop. Lexus actually "contracted" the work.

2. 17X8" wheels/tires/spacers.

3. Harrier Grille

4. Switchable resistor in line with the OAT sensor so the A/C compressor doesn't run below 47 degrees F during the fall and winter months. Some call this ECONOMY MODE, I call it LIFE-SAVING.

Default questions about the 255 tires

Hey DJ Sprinkles,

I'm thinking about getting 255 tires to offset the slightly girly stock tires.

I have a few questions.

Have you noticed any performance decrease after installing the larger wheels?

Im not sure if a wider tire affects any of this but have you noticed any difference on

- turning radius
- louder "tire sounds" when cruising on the highway
- any decrease in HP? will wider tires affect this?? not sure

thanks

the bigger tires did not really effect any of ur questions. turning radius suxs to begin with so it didnt make much of a difference, noise is not much more increased but that depends on your tread pattern, performance wise, i get alot better traction. didnt really notice much of a difference in acceleration. and high speed turns were alot faster and a more secure grip with the bigger tires. as far as in the snow driving. omg, wow what a difference. i can go through so much deeper snow than i could with the stock 225's. also in the rain i get great stopping traction and for turns too. my old stock tires were making me hydroplain in the rain. overall i feel every rx owner should eventually upgrade to better tires. my positive effects were of course all dependent on the brand of tire i bought. go out and spend $200 on 4 tires and they will probably be crap. but spend closer to $600 like i did and get great riding, handling and great looking tires.
in the first place i feel lexus should definitly upgrade the tires and rims on the rx. bmw riding on 19'' rims and low profile tires, acura and infinity sporting 17''rims. c'mon what are we riding on, ugly 16'' rims and skinny punny tires. im real upset with this one on lexus. everything else they make is gorgeous and then they finish it of with these tires. well hope that solves ur questions.

Bigger, wider tread, tires would undoubtedly increase the rolling resistance and that in turn would decrease your gas mileage. But perhaps only slightly so.
