Totota RAV-4 vs. RX300 safety
I am thinking of selling my RX300 for an '07 RAV4 because of the side curtain airbags. Both vehicles have VSC,ABS, side air bags etc.
The RX300 driver did not fair as well in the crash test as the RAV4.
I am the only one in the car mostly.
The New RAV4 seems safer for the driver, although the RAV4 was not as safe for the front passenger as the lexus was but at least the RAV4 adds Curtain.
Anyone here have the new Rav4?

Obviously you are not comparing apples to apples. Even more so, there is a huge time gap between production dates.
I would suggest list all items and mark which models has advantage over the other. As it gets to intangibles, list your preference. Include cost of ownership (maintainance, payments etc) and then you will be able to make up your mind.
If it is lack of side curtains, which is most important to you, then you know the answer already. [Rx has side air bags, but nothing to protect the head from the side glass].

The RX300 was rated #2 out of all the vehicles on the road as least likely to die in. This is against Volvos, SAAB, Hummers, etc. I wouldn't argue with that kind of safety record.

Agree. If I remember correctly, it was like 5 death out of 1 million RX300s. The RAV4 was like 143 out of 1 million. Not surprising since RAV4 owners are typically youngsters. And early RAV4 was tiny toy SUV that flips easily. The new RAV4 seems to have the same dimension as the RX300.
