When I bought my 2000 RX300 my Lexus salesman (of ten years now) told me that the from/rear torque split was 70/30. But I now believe this to have been an incorrect, or more likely incomplete, statement.
My 94 Ford aerostar had a nominal torque split of 30/70 front to rear. On the aerostar, with just one front wheel off the ground I can tighten the lug nuts on that wheel to 105 ftlbs. On the RX with one rear wheel off the ground there is virtually no resistance to allow for tightening the lug nuts unless I brake it.
So my personal conclusion is that the RX's nominal torque distribution front to rear is most likely less than 95/5 and only with it "tightened up" does it approach something on the order of 70/30.

Please take note that nothing I have said here about the RX300's AWD is in conflict with the statement you have just posted from Lexus technical support.

Go somewhere there is no rain and the sun comes out, that you can actualy see, take a vacation. Go get a Benz and spend your time cleaning brake dust instead of being on the net. And you are as always off the mark on the AWD split just like you were on the A/C.

If you really think I'm off the mark why don't you prove it. All you have to do is jack up one rear wheel on a Lexus RX300 and use a torque wrench to determine how solid the viscous coupling is to the center differential.
Or maybe you could have some success in getting Lexus to tell us about the RX300's AWD setup in some reasonable detail.
Tell you what, if you think I'm wrong on either count, A/C or AWD, you fly out here and prove it to me and I'll pay for your tickets and give you $1000 to boot.

Lexus Test Driver
I rely on the Consumers Reports testing with regard to the propensity of a vehicle to rollover. When they test the vehicles to do emergency lane change maneuver, they go as fast as the vehicle can go until it starts to hit cones and all. If it passes that test, chances are it is not likely to rollover in your typical accident avoidance maneuvers.
Those that are not able to finish the test, like the Isuzu Trooper, Suzuki Samurai, and Ford Bronco II, Ford Explorer (older model), are given unsafe recommendations.
The RX300 passed with flying colors.
