Loading CD's is non-intutive as they need to be loaded upside down. Read instructions and try again.

Sorry dont know what error code 2 means.

My cousin says that may have something to do with it selecting a CD or the ejecting of the cartridge. Something might be dirty. Sometimes with other CD players I put a cleaner CD in there in case it is realted to the CD rather than the cartridge.

OMG! Thank you salimshah :-)

I know this is a very old thread, but today I started to research (ie. Google) "repair cd player RX300 error" (no quotes) and found this post right here in my favorite Lexus forum. When I first tried the CD player four months ago, I received the same "Error" message on the console and assumed the CD player needed repaired (or perhaps just a good cleaning and maybe some new belts or gears). I was getting ready rip and repair this weekend. After reading this, I pulled out the CD cartridge, flipped the CDs over in their little holders, and viola! Instant joy

I'll also mention another non-intuitive observation: The CD that you want to be first, should go on the bottom, not on the top. It's a "bottoms-up" thing :->

For those of us who haven't actually finished reading the 300 page "2000 Lexus Owner's Manual", you'll find this on page 158. It says, "Put a disk on the tray with its label face down and push the tray back into the magazine."

D'oh!

The easiest way that I've found to burn cd's is using iTunes. Just create a playlist of music, up to 80 mins worth, and then right click the playlist and hit burn to CD. Then don't change any settings on the next pop-up, keep it on "Music CD", don't hit Data CD/DVD, or MP3 Disc. I rarely burn CD's now that I have an AUX input, but whenever I do this method works the best.

Agreed! I just rock the old school cassette adaptor and use my iPhone.

While doing my initial research, I found these "GROM" devices:
http://gromaudio.com/index.html

On YouTube search for GROM too. Looks like this uses the CD player's wiring harness, so you won't have CD player after that. But you do get a nice display in the console. Read the all of the FAQs at http://gromaudio.com/support/usb-faq.html first.

Btw, like you, I currently use the "old school" method to hook up to an iPod's headset jack.

Regards . . .
