Interior Rear Hatch Release?
Does a 2001 RX-300 have an interior hatch release inside the vehicle?
I know the key has the remote unlock for the doors and hatch, but I was wandering if there is a hatch release button inside.
Any help??
Thanks

I have a 2002 RX300 and the answer is no. I think the reason is no one is supposed to be back there when the hatch is closed and the back seat is in place (i.e., not folded). If you got locked in, you simply crawl over to the back doors.
[But, if you got locked in by the key remote and open a door from the inside the alarm goes off, but that's another story].

To clarify, the rear hatch is counted as a 5th door and the master door unlock on the driver's door unlocks all 5 doors. The same on the key remote (unlike sedans), the unlock-all command unlocks all 5 doors.

For sure the 99 does not have a trunk release [trunk release as in cars ... you simply lift up the gate .. no need to squeze the latch]. Not to be confused with inside relase to escape out of shut trunk.
As expalined by bob2200, you have the lock/unlock operation via key remote and door unlock button.
The trunk release button makes more sense with the lift option.

I've never understood why some call it a fifth door when it raises up like a rear hatch. Anyway thanks for the info.
I do know some mini vans have a rear hatch (or fifth door) that has an inside hatch release button to open it, even if people are not supposed to be behind the rear seats.
