Default Code P0446 ???

Hi!

Does anyone know what could cause this code P0446?

I recently came back from a long trip, and my check engine light came on.

I went to AutoZone and borrowed their OBD2 tool and it had this code stored twice.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Barry

Welcome !

By using the "search" function above, a P0446 search provides 33 hits.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ighlight=P0446 ..for example

This is the possible "loose fuel filler cap, bad O-ring seal on the filler cap" error.

The emission EVAP control system - vent control circuit malfunction.

Opinion has it this a symptom of overfilling when fueling.

It may be a warranty repair if you have less than eighty thousand miles.

Is the error solid and currently causing an Check Engine Light(CEL) or it the problem intermittent?

Hi Tammy:
Thanks for the reply!

My check engine light comes on and stays on. I tried pulling the fuse a couple of times, but the light comes on within an hour or so.

I do have a lot of miles (173,000) I was wondering if a new fuel cap would help.-

I just completed installing a new air-fuel sensor bank one, sensor one, against the firewall about 3 weeks ago and haven't had any re-occuring
codes.

I don't know what else to try, it doesn't look like many other Lexus owners are having this problem yet.

I LOVE my '99 RX300!

Hardly any issues up to now, compared to the Americian cars I USED to own...

Barry,

Did you ever get it fixed?
If so what was the problem?
I just got the same code and was wondering.

Thanks
